The Lancia engineers were particular proud of their brake system. In early seventies four disk brakes and servo-unit were a technical delicacy. The specialty were two separate brake circuits: one for the front brakes the other for all brakes. If one of the circuits fails, braking is still possible. If the mixed circuit fails, a little loss of braking efficiency can be perceived, because only the front brakes work. Lancia called this reliable construction Superduplex System.
